Dr. Kara Winkler is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Houston-Downtown’s College of Arts and Communication. Her work focuses on sexual health communication, relational dynamics, and the intersection of cognition, emotion, and physiological responses in close relationships. She teaches courses in interpersonal communication, research methods, public speaking, and intersectionality.

Presentations highlight sexual scripts in Gen-Z relationships and coping efficacy in disclosures of sexual boundaries.
