Kara McLaughlin

Kara McLaughlin is a Lecturer in Modern Ballet at the Royal Conservatoire Scotland. She retired from performing with Scottish Ballet in 2014 but continues her professional engagement through teaching and academic roles. Her expertise spans classical ballet technique, repertoire, pointe work, and solo performance.

Education highlights include a Post Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in the Higher Arts (2023) and current enrollment in an MSc in Sports Performance Coaching at the University of Stirling. She holds a Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies from the Royal Academy of Dance.

Research interests focus on ballet pedagogy and performance training, informed by her 18-year career with Scottish Ballet where she performed leading roles in major works like The Nutcracker, Cinderella, and Romeo and Juliet.
