Kanya Tsuboi

Professor Kanya Tsuboi serves as a full-time faculty member in the Department of Fine Arts at Osaka University of Arts' Faculty of Arts, where she has established herself as a leading figure in environmental and public art. Her academic career is deeply intertwined with community engagement and urban development initiatives across Japan.

Her educational foundation was built at Osaka University of Arts, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sculpture in 1977. This technical training in three-dimensional art forms underpins her decades-long specialization in large-scale public installations.

Professor Tsuboi's research centers on Environmental Art and Public Space Integration, with particular emphasis on how sculptural interventions can transform urban landscapes. Her work bridges Art History and contemporary Urban Design practices, focusing on community-centered approaches to environmental aesthetics. This manifests in projects where art becomes functional infrastructure that fosters civic identity.
