Professor Kandyce A'see holds an academic appointment in the Department of Undergraduate Health Professions (Dental Hygiene) within Augusta University's College of Allied Health Sciences. She earned an EDD in Higher Education from the University of North Georgia (2024), MS in Allied Health from the Medical College of Georgia (2011), and BS in Biology from South Carolina State University (2002). Her certifications include Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor, Dental Hygiene Licensing (DHL), and Veterinary Dental Licensing (VDL).
Her research focuses on patient care innovation, occupational safety in dental practices, and access to oral healthcare. Recent work addresses intraoral photography's role in treatment acceptance, nonmedical stimulant use in dental education, and PPE compliance among dental professionals. She actively participates in university governance through roles on Promotion and Tenure Committees, Faculty Grievance Boards, and Health Professions Associations.
Teaching responsibilities include courses like DHYG 3155 Pain Management and DHYG 3280 Practice Management & Ethics. She advises the Student American Dental Hygiene Association and chairs Dental Hygiene Admissions Committees. Awards include the 2019 Augusta University Teaching Excellence Award and 2022 Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society Induction.
Her public service contributions include organizing Give Kids a Smile events and serving on National HIV Testing Day Task Forces to improve community dental health access.
