Dr. Kanchan Marcus is a Research Fellow at the Leeder Centre for Health Policy, Economics and Data within the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney. Her work focuses on healthcare governance, oral health disparities in culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, and health workforce integration. She holds a PhD in social epidemiology, examining barriers to oral healthcare in CALD populations, for which she received the 2024 Thesis Excellence Prize.
Her research interests include integrated care models, migrant health policies, and Universal Health Coverage frameworks. She has supervised students in public health and nursing programs and contributed to projects funded by the Australian Research Council. Kanchan is affiliated with the Sydney Policy Lab, Ethnic Communities Council of NSW, and the Community Primary Health Network.
Key awards include the 2024 Thesis Excellence Prize, Colgate Community Grant (2021), and Research Training Program Scholarship (2020–2022). Her recent work explores dental hesitancy, trauma-informed care for refugees, and systemic barriers faced by internationally trained healthcare professionals.
She has published extensively on CALD health disparities, dental access inequities, and health workforce migration. Her research bridges policy, practice, and community engagement to advance equitable healthcare systems.
