Kamila Szulc-Lerch is a Senior Research Associate and Principal Investigator at the Wellcome Centre for Integrative Neuroimaging (WIN) at the University of Oxford. She holds roles as Deputy Director of the WIN MRI Graduate Programme and Co-Organiser of the FSL Course. Her research focuses on preclinical imaging of post-stroke brain recovery and the application of novel MRI techniques to study neurodevelopmental disorders using rodent models. She leads projects investigating sex differences in stroke recovery using the Four Core Genotype (FCG)-like rat model and the impact of Metformin on brain structure in UK Biobank data.
Education: MSc in Physiology and Neuroscience (NYU), PhD in Biomedical Imaging (NYU). Postdoctoral training at the Hospital for Sick Children and Mouse Imaging Centre, Toronto.
Research interests include neuroplasticity, MRI method development, and translational neuroscience. She collaborates with experts such as Art Arnold, Yvonne Couch, and Stuart Peirson. Supervises DPhil and MSc students in clinical neuroscience and neuroimaging.
Key grants include a John Fell Fund study on sex differences in stroke recovery and a UK Biobank project on Metformin’s effects. Her work explores interventions like exercise to promote brain repair in pediatric brain tumor survivors.
