معرفی
Heidi Johansen-Berg is a Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Oxford, where she also serves as Pro-Vice Chancellor (Strategic Initiatives) and Associate Head (Research and Innovation) in the Medical Sciences Division. She is a Wellcome Trust Principal Research Fellow and a member of the Oxford University Centre for Integrative Neuroimaging (OxCIN).
Research Focus: Her work centers on brain plasticity and recovery mechanisms in the sensorimotor system, with a particular emphasis on white matter plasticity and activity-dependent myelination. She employs advanced MRI techniques to study how the brain changes with learning, aging, and injury (e.g., stroke), aiming to develop interventions for improving healthy aging and post-stroke recovery. Recent projects explore the interplay between sleep, motor learning, and cognitive rehabilitation.
Research Trends: Her publications highlight multimodal neuroimaging, stroke recovery, sleep disturbance, myelin biology, and working memory training. Key methodologies include fMRI neurofeedback, diffusion tensor imaging, and animal models of brain injury.
Scientific Recognition:
- Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS)
- Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences (FMedSci)
- Wellcome Trust Principal Research Fellow
Labs & Networks: Leads the WIN Plasticity Group and contributes to the WIN Neuroplastics Network and the Cogni-Action Project. Her work bridges basic neuroscience and clinical translation, focusing on biomarkers for recovery and digital therapeutics.
