Kamila Kwasniewska is a Research Fellow and Group Manager at Trinity College Dublin, coordinating the ERC-funded TERRAFORM project to ensure seamless research operations for students and staff while driving controlled plant growth chamber experiments.
Her educational background includes:
- Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Wroclaw, Poland
- Master’s Science in Botany from the University of Wroclaw, Poland
- PhD in Plant Developmental Genetics from Trinity College Dublin (2017)
Her research integrates plant developmental genetics with environmental innovation, examining transcription factors in Arabidopsis thaliana during her doctoral work, developing plant-based sensor kits for environmental chambers, and pioneering volcanic ash weathering studies for carbon emission reduction. She actively explores nature connectedness as a catalyst for psychological and social well-being through interdisciplinary approaches.
Kamila has secured funding through ERC TERRAFORM and ERC Proof of Concept projects, plus ICRAG initiatives, with her Tephra Bag Citizen Science Experiment engaging schools in volcanic ash weathering research. She founded a nature-based enterprise to bridge academic research and public environmental engagement.
She operates within Trinity College Dublin’s Plant Developmental Genetics Laboratory and leads cross-institutional teams focused on environmental biotechnology and citizen science applications.
