Kamil Dalkir is an Associate Lecturer at the Royal College of Art's School of Architecture, specializing in the intersection of law, architecture, and forced migration. He holds a BA from the University of Westminster (2008), an MSc from King's College London (2013), and an MA from the RCA (2016), and is completing a PhD at the RCA on humanitarian governance.
His research focuses on the financial and spatial dimensions of displacement, particularly post-2011 North African and Middle Eastern migrations. He critiques how border regimes and humanitarian frameworks assign identities to migrants through legal and architectural infrastructures, analyzing tools like the EU refugee distribution algorithm. His work bridges advocacy and art, using models, audio-visual materials, and interviews as evidence.
Collaborations include 2050+ (Milan), Adrian Lahoud, and Cecil Balmond. He runs research studios like RS6: Saharian Becomings, exploring trans-Saharan agricultural practices. Exhibitions include the Venice Biennale and Rotterdam Architecture Biennial.
