Dr. Kamal K. Sridhar is a distinguished Professor at Stony Brook University, specializing in sociolinguistics with a focus on language maintenance, bilingualism, and World Englishes. She holds an MA in TESOL and a PhD in Applied Linguistics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. From 1986-1997, she directed the TESOL programs and served as Director of ESL at Stony Brook. Her research explores linguistic preservation among Asian Indian communities, particularly the Thanjavur Marathi speakers. She has authored over 30 journal articles and book chapters, including her seminal work English in Indian Bilingualism (1989). Dr. Sridhar has held editorial roles in prestigious journals such as TESOL Quarterly and contributed to the Encarta of World Englishes. Her work bridges theoretical linguistics with practical pedagogy, addressing global language policy and multicultural education challenges.
