Kajsa Gilenstam is an Associate Professor at the Department of Community Medicine and Rehabilitation, Section of Sports Medicine at Umeå University. She specializes in teaching exercise physiology at both bachelor's and master's levels, and oversees two core courses in the university's one-year Exercise Physiology Master's Programme. Her research focuses on sex/gender aspects in exercise physiology, emphasizing how gender influences physiological responses in sports and health contexts.
Dr. Gilenstam holds the title of Distinguished University Teacher, awarded by Umeå University's pedagogical qualification board, reflecting her commitment to educational innovation. She actively develops curriculum initiatives such as the Exercise Physiology Programme and collaborates on projects addressing police officer health through studies on work-life balance, lifestyle interventions, and environmental health factors.
