Kaisa Bjuresäter is an Associate Professor at Karlstad University specializing in nursing research focused on patient needs in cancer and elderly care. She develops nurse-led care models including liaison nurse programs and investigates holistic health approaches. Her research spans organizational prerequisites in healthcare, nutritional support, and quality-of-life interventions for chronic conditions.
Educational background includes registration as a nurse (1992) with advanced training in clinical nutrition. She earned her PhD in 2010 from Karlstad University with a thesis on home enteral tube feeding.
Current research projects include:
- QOPCoN: Investigating contact nurse effectiveness in cancer care
- Hearing impairment studies in elderly care facilities
- Holistic health education collaborations with Indian medical institutions
Supervises doctoral candidates studying emergency nursing, oncology support systems, and geriatric audiology. Teaches scientific methodology, Grounded Theory, and directs the "Contact Nurses in Cancer Care" course.
Collaborates extensively with Regional Cancer Centers West/South, Region Värmland, Örebro University, and international partners through the ENNA network.
