Kaida Xiao

Kaida Xiao is a Professor of Colour and Imaging Science at the School of Design, University of Leeds. They previously held positions at the University of Sheffield, University of Liverpool, and Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology, focusing on 3D color printing, medical imaging, and color modeling.

• PhD in Colour Science – Colour and Imaging Institute, University of Derby

Their research spans 3D colour image reproduction, 3D printing facial prostheses, and skin color analysis, with applications in medical imaging and display calibration. They lead the Colour Technology Research Group and collaborate with CIE on international standards.

Kaida Xiao is actively involved in academic leadership as Director of CIE Division 1 (Vision and Colour) and National Representative for Great Britain in CIE Division 8 (Image Technology). They have contributed to projects funded by the Wellcome Trust and EPSRC.

Current advisees include Qinyuan Li, Sascha Hein, and Molly Talbot. They serve as Deputy Program Leader for the MSc in Colour program and lead the Colour Technology LAB.
