Dr. Kai Zhang is a Lecturer and Lab Coordinator in the Department of Physics at Hampton University. He holds a B.S. from Harbin Institute of Technology (China), M.S. and Ph.D. from Norfolk State University (U.S.), and an M.E. from Virginia Tech (U.S.). His research focuses on advanced materials science, including metal oxide semiconductors, thermoelectric thin films, nanostructured materials, and atomic layer deposition systems. He has contributed over 40 peer-reviewed journal articles and conference proceedings, with notable work on PbTe/PbSe nanolaminates and ZnO nanorods for biomedical applications.
Dr. Zhang’s research interests span nanomaterial synthesis, optoelectronic materials, and template replication technologies. He is affiliated with professional organizations such as MRS, SPIE, ECS, and AVS. His work emphasizes material fabrication, characterization, and scalability, with applications in energy conversion and biomedical devices.
