Kadri Soo is a Lecturer in Social Welfare at the University of Tartu's Institute of Social Studies. She earned her PhD in Sociology from Tartu in 2023 with a dissertation on school environments as sources of child well-being, complemented by Master's degrees in Social Work and Gender Studies.
Research Expertise: Soo investigates child vulnerability in educational settings, pandemic impacts on youth well-being, and trends in parental mediation of digital activities. Her work employs mixed methods including EU Kids Online surveys and Children's Worlds comparative datasets.
Active Projects: Leads research on Gene-Environment interactions in youth mental health (€347K, 2022-2027) and democratic governance in sustainable food systems (€207K, 2024-2027). Previously directed the €683K project Vulnerability in Childhood and Vulnerable Subjectivity (2020-2024).
Teaching & Mentoring: Teaches social policy and research methods. Supervises PhD candidate Maria Žuravljova on institutional care climates for at-risk youth. Published 74+ works including articles in Child Indicators Research and Children & Society.
