Ka-Kit Tung is the Frederic and Julia Wan Endowed Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of Washington and an Adjunct Professor in Atmospheric Science. He previously served as Department Chair of Applied Mathematics from 1993 to 2007. His research focuses on climate modeling, geophysical fluid dynamics, and solar-climate interaction, with notable contributions to understanding mechanisms behind global warming slowdowns and solar cycle impacts. Tung holds a B.S. and M.S. in Aeronautical Engineering from Caltech (1972) and a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Harvard (1977).
