Dr. K. Paige Carmichael is a Professor in the Department of Pathology at the University of Georgia's College of Veterinary Medicine. Her work focuses on animal models of human neurological diseases, particularly in dogs, and ocular pathology. She holds a DVM from Tuskegee University and a PhD from the University of Georgia, with board certification in veterinary pathology.

Research Interests: Dr. Carmichael’s research emphasizes inherited neurological disorders in companion animals, including hepatocerebellar degeneration in Bernese Mountain Dogs and globoid cell leukodystrophy in Irish Setters. Her team develops diagnostic tests and explores therapies like xenotransplantation. She also investigates FeLV-associated myelopathy in cats and ocular abnormalities in wildlife.
Teaching: Courses in inherited diseases, general pathology, ophthalmic pathology, and digestive/integumentary pathology.
