K Patrick Fazioli is an Associate Professor in the Department of Humanities and Director of the Global Honors Program at Mercy University, located in Dobbs Ferry, NY. His academic work bridges archaeology, history, and education, focusing particularly on the late antique and early medieval eastern Alpine region (c. 300-900 CE). He has conducted fieldwork across Austria, Slovenia, Sweden, Denmark, Northern Ireland, and New York State, emphasizing ceramic analysis, landscape archaeology, and social identity studies.
His research intersects with critical pedagogy, examining how honors education can promote equity and social responsibility. He has authored/co-authored over 20 books and articles, including *The Mirror of the Medieval* (2017), which explores how modern political projects appropriate historical narratives of the Middle Ages. Current projects include investigating ceramic technological shifts post-Roman collapse and the colonial influences shaping early medieval archaeological narratives in Central Europe.
Teaching responsibilities span Seminars, History, and Global Honors programs, emphasizing liberal arts' transformative potential. His work frequently addresses interdisciplinary themes like the intersection of archaeology with nationalism, the professionalization of honors education, and the ethics of historical representation.
Recent articles (2023-2024) focus on equity frameworks in honors programs and using coarse ware ceramics to trace cultural transitions in the Alps. His work consistently bridges material culture analysis with sociopolitical critique, challenging disciplinary boundaries in archaeology and anthropology.
