Assoc. Prof. Dr. iur. Jānis Baumanis is a Lead Researcher at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU). He holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and Political Science from the University of Latvia and has extensive administrative experience, including serving as Vice-Rector for Administration and Development since 2010 and Chancellor since August 2025.

His research and professional work focuses on Political Science, International Relations, and Public Administration, informed by his roles in academic governance and international cooperation. Notably, he was Chair of the NATO Support Organisation in Latvia (LATO) and Head of the Press Centre at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia. His career spans diplomatic service (Embassy of Latvia in Sweden), project management (World Bank), and private business.
At RSU, he contributes to the Social Sciences Research Centre and is involved in institutional development and alumni community building, as reflected in his participation in RSU’s 75th anniversary initiatives.
