Júlia Canning Clode Castro-Neves

Júlia Canning Clode Castro-Neves is a PhD student in the Department of Environmental Immunology at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research – UFZ (Leipzig, Germany). She holds a Master’s in Cellular and Molecular Biology with Biomedical specialization (2023) and a Bachelor’s in Biology (2021), both from the University of Coimbra, Portugal.

Research Interests: Her work focuses on understanding how real-life chemical mixtures of endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) affect immune cell interactions critical to pregnancy outcomes. She investigates the immunotoxicological effects of substances like BPA, benzophenone-3, PFAS, and phthalates using in vitro models and mouse studies, with a particular emphasis on reproductive health and epigenetic modifications.

Collaborations: She works alongside key researchers including Prof. Ana Zenclussen, PD Dr. Anne Schumacher, and Dr. Nicole Meyer, while engaging with interdisciplinary networks like the ENKORE Cluster and DZKJ (German Center for Child and Adolescent Health). Her research integrates advanced imaging, flow cytometry, and epigenetic analysis to decode chemical-immune interactions.
