Jörg Bagdahn

Prof. Dr. Jörg Bagdahn is President of Anhalt University of Applied Sciences (since 2016) and holds a professorship in Materials of Photovoltaics (since 2009). He serves as Spokesperson for the HRK Universities of Applied Sciences Member Group and Vice-President of Saxony-Anhalt State Rectors' Conference. Previously, he held leadership roles at Fraunhofer Society including Director of the Fraunhofer Center for Silicon Photovoltaics (2007-2016) and Department Head at Fraunhofer Institute for Mechanics of Materials.

Education:

• Doctorate in Materials Science, Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (2000)
• European Welding Engineer certification, Schweißtechnische Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt Halle (1996)
• Diploma in Materials Science, Chemnitz University of Technology (1995)

Research Focus: Specializes in photovoltaic materials, silicon photovoltaics, microsystems technology, and mechanical properties of microcomponents. His work bridges materials engineering with renewable energy applications, particularly in solar technology development and microelectronic systems.

Leadership & Teams: Directed Fraunhofer Center for Silicon Photovoltaics (2007-2016) and led research groups focused on microsystem technologies. Currently oversees institutional leadership and strategic development at Anhalt University.
