Jérôme Monsenego is a full professor of international tax law at Stockholm University's Department of Law and serves as Chairman of IFA Sweden. His academic career combines scholarly research with practical experience, having previously worked as an international tax director at PwC.
Professor Monsenego's primary research interests focus on:
- EU tax law, including State aid law applied to fiscal measures
- Transfer pricing regulations and practices
- The application of European fundamental freedoms to taxation
- The resolution of cross-border tax disputes
His scholarly work addresses critical issues at the intersection of international taxation, European law, and fiscal sovereignty. Professor Monsenego has published extensively in multiple languages and is currently working on several research projects including an update to his book "Introduction to Transfer Pricing," an article on the GLoBE rules on minimum taxation, and multiple articles in the area of State aid.
Professor Monsenego has received notable recognition for his work:
- Shortlisted for the 2019 IBFD Frans Vanistendael Award for his book "Selectivity in State Aid Law and the Methods for the Allocation of the Corporate Tax Base"
- Awarded an honourable mention by the jury of the IFA Mitchell B. Carroll Prize for his doctoral thesis
As an educator, Professor Monsenego has taught international taxation at Stockholm University and has served as a visiting professor at the universities of Turin (Italy, 2021) and Meiji (Japan, 2019). His teaching focuses on international taxation at both domestic and transnational levels.
