His work often combines historical analysis with sociological theory to understand institutional change and policy resistance.
The analysis of his recent publications reveals a consistent focus on the mechanisms of science governance in France. Key themes include the bureaucratization of research funding through peer review, the paradoxical effects of policy instruments, the managerial reform of universities, and the historical construction of the French research landscape. His research spans the disciplines of sociology, political science, and science and technology studies, with a strong emphasis on institutional and historical analysis.
