Professor Jyotsna Vaid is a distinguished faculty member in the Psychology Department at Texas A&M University, affiliated with the Institute for Neuroscience. Her research focuses on bilingualism’s cognitive and neurocognitive aspects, spatial cognition biases, and diversity science addressing systemic inequities in academia. She holds fellowships from APA, APS, AAAS, and the Psychonomic Society.
Her work investigates how script directionality influences spatial perception, the role of biscriptality in language processing, and barriers faced by women of color in academia. Notable contributions include studies on hemi-image drawing biases and the psycholinguistic impact of bilingualism. She has advised multiple students on projects related to bilingualism, spatial cognition, and diversity initiatives.
