Juyan Zhang is a Professor of Communication at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and a Contributing Scholar for the USC Center on Public Diplomacy. His research focuses on strategic communication, public diplomacy, interfaith dialogue, religious tourism, and Buddhist studies.

Recent research trends include analyzing interfaith dialogue mechanisms, strategic communication in Sino-Vatican relations, and religious tourism branding (e.g., Nepal, Pakistan). He also investigates digital diplomacy through social media platforms.
