Jutta Lommatzsch

Prof. Dr. Jutta Lommatzsch is a full-time Professor of Business Law at Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences (Hochschule Ruhr West), leading the MBA Global Management/HR program and the Wirtschaftsrecht (Business Law) academic unit. She previously served as the first female Dean of the Department 2 for Economics (Fachbereich 2 für Wirtschaft) from 2017 to 2025. Her professional roles include former Chancellor at SRH Hochschule Nordrhein-Westfalen and Of Counsel at Peters Partnerschaftsgesellschaft mbB law firm, specializing in Commercial Law, Transport Law, and Energy Law.

She holds a law degree from Westfälische-Wilhelm-Universität Münster, passed both state legal exams in Hamm and Düsseldorf, and earned her PhD (2006) with a thesis on international transport law. Her research focuses on logistics law, IT law, energy regulation, labor law, and compliance within business contexts. She has supervised numerous bachelor’s and master’s theses requiring legal components.

Key research areas include legal frameworks for e-commerce, transport liability, corporate governance, and labor market dynamics. Her recent publications address EU regulatory updates impacting consumer contracts and digital commerce.

Professional memberships include leadership roles in the Akademische Gesellschaft Hamm, Rotary Club (managing international scholarships), DGTR (German Transport Lawyers’ Association), and VGR (German Commercial Law Society). She serves on the board of the Elisabeth-Hülsmann-Stiftung (social welfare) and OSC (sports club), demonstrating her commitment to community engagement.
