Jutta Emes

Prof. Dr. Jutta Emes is the Rector of TU Bergakademie Freiberg, a leading technical university in Germany. She holds a full professorship in Marketing and Media, with a strong academic background in business and media economics. Her career includes leadership roles at Bauhaus University Weimar, where she served as Vice Rector and Vice President for International Affairs, Diversity and Transfer, and as Interim Director in 2022.

Her research focuses on marketing strategies, media industry transformation due to digitization, and innovation in higher education teaching. She is particularly recognized for her work on digital university teaching, having received a dedicated fellowship in 2018.

Jutta Emes completed her doctorate in 1998 on market development in Central and Eastern Europe and her habilitation in 2004 on entrepreneurial profit in the music industry. Her academic trajectory reflects deep engagement with digital transformation across industries and educational institutions.

She is a member of several high-level advisory and governance bodies, including the Board of Directors of Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk and the 'Future of Teaching' advisory board at Goethe University Frankfurt. Her leadership extends to foundation trustee roles at Freiberg University of Mining and Technology Foundation, Dr. Erich-Krüger-Stiftung, Saxonia-Stiftung, Heinisch-Stiftung, and Sparkassen-Stiftung.
