Justine VIRLEE is a Researcher and teaching assistant at the University of Namur, affiliated with the Faculty of Economics, Management, Communication, and Politics, and the Department of Business Administration. Her doctoral research focuses on patient engagement in healthcare management, exploring how patient involvement impacts stakeholders in healthcare service systems. She holds a Master’s degree in Management (2012) and a Doctorate in Economics and Business Management. Her expertise spans healthcare service systems, health literacy, open innovation in services, and electronic word-of-mouth (E-WOM) analysis.
Research Interests: Justine’s work emphasizes the integration of healthcare service users as active participants in value co-creation, leveraging online resources and health literacy. She investigates systemic and individual-level factors influencing patient engagement, alongside E-WOM dynamics in marketing contexts. Her contributions bridge healthcare management, consumer behavior, and innovation strategies.
Key Projects: She leads two projects: (1) an ongoing study on patient engagement in chronic disease management (since 2012) and (2) a 2015–2017 project analyzing how users’ cognitive skills affect their integration of online health resources. These projects highlight her focus on healthcare systems and user-centric service innovation.
Professional Activities: Justine has participated in conferences like the 14th International Research Symposium on Service Excellence (2015) and workshops such as the EDEN Doctoral Seminar (2014). She is affiliated with research centers CeRCLe and CCMS, contributing to interdisciplinary collaborations.
