Justin Woodman is a Senior Lecturer and Head of Department in Anthropology at Goldsmiths, University of London. He holds a doctoral degree from Goldsmiths (2003) focusing on chaos magick and modernity. His research explores intersections between speculative fiction, esoteric practices, conspiracy cultures, and their relation to modern societal structures.
Research interests include anthropology of religion, contemporary esotericism, popular culture analysis, and the anthropology of evil. His work frequently examines how cultural narratives around monstrosity and occult practices reflect modern existential anxieties.
Recent publications include analyses of Lovecraftian cultural influence (2021), dark tourism in urban spaces (2019), and encyclopedic contributions to chaos magic historiography (2019). He teaches courses on anthropology's foundational theories and contemporary cultural practices.
