Justin Stagl is an Ordinary Professor of Sociology at the University of Salzburg, where he has been affiliated since 1991. Previously, he held professorial positions at the University of Bonn (1974-1991) and assistant roles at the University of Graz (1967-1969) and University of Salzburg (1970-1974). His academic career spans over five decades, with significant contributions to sociology, cultural anthropology, and linguistics.
Education:
- PhD in anthropology (major) and psychology (minor) at the University of Vienna (1965)
- Studies in ethnology, psychology, and philosophy at the University of Vienna (1960/61, 1965)
Research interests: Stagl's work focuses on sociology, cultural anthropology, and the intersection with linguistics. He has been recognized for his interdisciplinary approach, combining empirical social research with historical and cultural frameworks.
