معرفی
Justin Oelgoetz is a Professor in the Department of Physics, Engineering and Astronomy at Austin Peay State University (APSU). His research spans astrophysical plasmas, spectroscopy of amorphous solids, and computational modeling using high-performance computing. He also leads student initiatives including the high altitude balloon group and serves as the NASA Spacegrant PI for APSU.
- Ph.D. in Chemical Physics, The Ohio State University
- B.S. in Chemistry, Florida State University
Dr. Oelgoetz's research bridges fundamental physics and applied materials science. His early work focused on X-ray emission from hot plasmas in solar flares and black hole accretion disks, while recent studies examine light interactions with amorphous solids using supercomputers. He has extensive experience in computational modeling and microprocessor-based experimental design.
His publications (2001-2019) demonstrate expertise in:
- Astrophysical X-ray spectroscopy
- Amorphous material structure
- Dielectronic recombination processes
- High-altitude balloon instrumentation
- Raman and XPS analysis of chalcogenide glasses
- UV-induced surface transformations
