Justin Den Herder

Justin Den Herder is a Lecturer in Structural Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's School of Architecture while serving as Principal at Silman, a structural engineering firm. His professional leadership includes co-leading a design studio focused on innovation across new construction, renovations, and historic preservation projects. Notable projects include the Hunters Point Community Library, Empire Stores adaptive reuse, and the Ostrava Concert Hall. He has contributed to industry publications like Modern Steel Construction and served as Editor-in-Chief of SEAoNY Cross Sections (2014–2017).

His research and practice emphasize interdisciplinary collaboration, leveraging diverse materials and adaptive strategies.
