Dr Juntao Lyu is a Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne’s Melbourne School of Population and Global Health, part of the Cancer Health Services Research Unit. He contributes to the Genomically Informed Active Surveillance in Intermediate Risk Prostate Cancer (GenI-AIRSPACE) project’s Health Economics team. Holding a PhD in Sociology of Health and Illness from the University of Leeds (2021), his doctoral work explored health knowledge and social inequalities among Chinese migrant workers. Prior roles include Research Data Analyst at the International Severe Asthma Registry (ISAR) and Senior Research Assistant at Griffith University’s Centre for Applied Health Economics (CAHE), where he developed expertise in health economics modeling. His research spans health policy evaluation, cost-effectiveness analysis, and cancer services research. He is an active member of the Australian Health Economics Society (AHES), Modelling and Simulation Society of Australia and New Zealand (MSSANZ), and the Healthy Environments and Lives (HEAL) National Research Network.
His research interests include applying quantitative methods to address health inequities, optimizing treatment strategies for severe asthma via registry data, and advancing cost-effectiveness evaluations for medical products. Recent work focuses on biomarker-driven asthma treatments, comorbidity impacts in respiratory diseases, and health systems analysis. He has contributed to multinational studies on asthma therapies and socioeconomic factors influencing health outcomes.
Professional contributions include peer-reviewed publications in respiratory medicine, health economics, and sociology. He remains committed to bridging clinical and economic evidence to improve healthcare decision-making. Collaborative projects often involve interdisciplinary teams and international partnerships, reflecting his dedication to global health challenges.
