Dr. Junmin Wang is a Professor of Sociology at the University of Memphis, located in Clement Hall, Room 229B. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from New York University, a post-doctoral fellowship in China’s political economy from Indiana University, and B.A./M.A. degrees in Sociology from Peking University, China. Her research focuses on China’s global economic interactions, political-economic transitions, sustainable development, innovation, and gender inequality in organizational contexts. She has authored a book, State-Market Interactions in China’s Reform Era: Local State Competition and Global Market Building in the Tobacco Industry (2013, Routledge), and published in journals such as Theory and Society, Social Science Quarterly, and Management and Organization Review.
Her work has been NSF-funded (2005–06 and 2012–14). Dr. Wang serves on the Board of the Research Committee for Sociology of Science and Technology at the International Sociological Association and has editorial roles at Social Science Research and Management and Organization Review. Her research bridges economic sociology, global development, and gender studies, emphasizing China’s institutional dynamics and innovation challenges.
