Dr. Junjie Liu is a Lecturer in Quantum Technology at Queen Mary University of London's School of Physical and Chemical Sciences, affiliated with the Centre for Experimental and Applied Physics. He holds a Royal Society University Research Fellowship (2021–present), focusing on quantum spin systems, molecular nanomagnets, and spintronics. His PhD (University of Florida, 2012) explored quantum tunneling in molecular nanomagnets, followed by postdoctoral work at the University of Oxford on magneto-electric couplings and quantum magnetism.
Research interests include quantum control of spins using electric fields, fault-tolerant quantum computing using qudits, and spin-electric interactions in nanoscale systems. He has pioneered electric field manipulation of Fe³⁺ spins in ferroelectrics and demonstrated coherent spin-electric coupling in molecular magnets. Key grants include £353k from the Royal Society for spin qubit control projects (2024–2025).
Publications span Nature Physics, Science Advances, and Physical Review Letters, covering topics like quantum gates via EPR, magnetoelectric vortex effects, and hyperfine-coupled qudits. His work bridges condensed matter physics with quantum technology applications.
