Jung Kim is a Professor in the Department of Exercise Science at the University of Puget Sound, currently on leave during Fall 2025. His research focuses on cellular and molecular mechanisms regulating skeletal muscle phenotype under varying loads, utilizing rodent models for increased activity (e.g., compensatory hypertrophy, wheel running) and planned decreased activity studies (e.g., hindlimb unloading, aging).
- Education:
- BS, University of California, Los Angeles (1995)
- MA, Pepperdine University (2000)
- PhD, New Mexico State University (2006)
The lab employs techniques like immunohistochemistry, histochemistry, gel zymography, and RT-PCR to study muscle repair following cardiotoxin-induced injury. Future work includes exploring aging and disuse atrophy models.
