Jung Choi is an Assistant Professor of Oboe at the University of North Texas (UNT). She previously taught at Missouri State University and Seoul National University. She specializes in oboe performance, instrumental studies, and chamber music. Her career includes performances with prestigious ensembles like the Seoul Yego Orchestra and Eastman Philharmonia, as well as collaborations in genres beyond classical music, including K-pop and film scores.
Choi holds a DMA in Oboe Performance from the Eastman School of Music, a Master of Music from Eastman, and a Bachelor of Music from Seoul National University. Her principal teachers include Richard Killmer and Yun Jung Lee.
Her research interests span early music, chamber music performance, and pedagogical approaches to oboe instruction. She is a member of ensembles like Winds, Piri, and Sunyul, and has been principal oboist for festivals such as Daegwanryoung Music Festival and Incheon Arts Festival.
Choi’s students have excelled in competitions like the Muri Competition and Prague Spring Competition, and have been invited to festivals including the Pacific Music Festival and Norfolk Chamber Music Festival.
