Jung-A Bang is a faculty member at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Walnut Hill School for the Arts, affiliated with the MIT Music Department. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Collaborative Piano from New England Conservatory, a Master of Music from The Juilliard School, and a Bachelor of Piano from New England Conservatory.
Her research interests focus on collaborative piano, chamber music performance, and pedagogical innovation. Notably praised for her virtuosic playing and collaborative artistry, she has performed globally at venues like Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, and Jordan Hall, collaborating with artists such as the Rockport Festival Chamber Orchestra and the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber Music Society. She serves as a staff pianist at institutions like the Banff International Music Program and Aspen Music Festival, emphasizing interdisciplinary musical training.
Jung-A’s pedagogical work includes mentorship in MIT’s Piano Lab and collaborative projects with colleagues to enhance student musicianship. She is recognized for her ability to blend technical mastery with interpretive creativity, shaping both performance and educational practices in classical music.
