Jun'ichi Isomae is an Associate Professor of Religious Studies at the International Research Center for Japanese Studies (Nichibunken) in Kyoto, Japan. He specializes in Japanese religious history with particular expertise in the intersections of religion, politics, and discrimination.
His educational background includes a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from the University of Tokyo (2010), an MA in Religious Studies from the same institution (1990), and a BA in Japanese Historiography from Shizuoka University (1984).
Dr. Isomae has conducted significant research on bio-politics, public life, and sovereignty through the theoretical frameworks of Foucault, Arendt, and Agamben. His work also explores postsecularism in both European and Asian contexts, with special attention to the genealogy of religious discourse in modern Japan.
