Dr. Julius Kunz is a Researcher at the Chair of Physical Geography, Institute of Geography and Geology, University of Würzburg. He focuses on high mountain geomorphology, Arctic and alpine permafrost, and applied geophysics, with fieldwork in Northwest Canada, Swiss Alps, and Italian Alps.
- PhD Candidate: 2022-2025 (DFG Project)
- Research Assistant: 2018-present
- Master's Degree: Applied Physical Geography, University of Würzburg (2016-2019)
- Bachelor's Degree: Geography (2013-2016)
His research involves multi-scale geophysical investigations (ERT, GPR, InSAR) of permafrost landscapes, glacier-permafrost interactions, and rock glacier dynamics. Recent projects include a DFG-funded study on Northwest Canada permafrost characterization and collaborations with Carleton University and Alfred Wegener Institute.
Publications highlight his work on thrust moraine geophysics (2019), thaw slump dynamics (2020), and international permafrost database development (2022). Current projects integrate in-situ, geophysical, and remote sensing data across diverse alpine environments.
