Julio Saul Solís Arce is a former predoctoral research fellow at the Institutions and Political Inequality (IPI) research unit and the Experimenting With Causality (CAUS) bridging project at the WZB Social Science Research Center in Berlin. His work focuses on political inequality, experimental methods, and global public health challenges. Born and raised in Mérida, Yucatán, México, he holds a Bachelor’s in Political Science from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and a Master’s in Mathematics, Economics, and Statistics from the African School of Economics (ASE).

His research interests include political repression dynamics, electoral behavior, and the societal impacts of pandemics. Notable projects include studies on vaccine hesitancy in low-resource settings and experimental analyses of privilege and overconfidence. He has collaborated with institutions such as Harvard University and the World Health Organization.
Recent work explores cross-country comparisons of pandemic responses, with a focus on Sierra Leone’s lockdown strategies and their socioeconomic consequences. His contributions to global health policy and experimental social science methodologies have been published in journals like Nature Medicine and WZB-Mitteilungen.
Currently affiliated with Harvard University (jsolisarce@g.harvard.edu), his research bridges quantitative methods with real-world policy challenges in political and public health spheres.
