Julio Lloret-Fillol

Prof. Julio Lloret-Fillol is a Group Leader and ICREA Research Professor at the Catalan Institute of Chemical Research (ICIQ), leading a research group focused on advancing catalytic concepts for sustainable energy and chemical processes. He holds an ERC Consolidator Grant (GREENLIGHT-REDCAT) and has pioneered work in water oxidation catalysis, CO₂ reduction, and electro/photo-catalytic systems. His academic journey includes a PhD from the University of Valencia, a Marie Curie postdoc at Heidelberg University, and independent research under the Ramón y Cajal program at the University of Girona before joining ICIQ in 2014.

Research Interests:

• Development of catalysts for sustainable energy (water oxidation, hydrogen generation)
• CO₂ electro/photo-reduction to fuels and chemicals
• Integration of catalytic systems with renewable energy sources
• Reticular materials (MOFs/COFs) for catalytic site isolation
• High-throughput experimentation and automation in catalyst discovery
