Julinna Oxley is a Professor of Philosophy and Religious Studies in the Humanities school at Coastal Carolina University and serves as Director of the Jackson Family Center for Ethics and Values. She was on scholarly leave during the Spring 2025 semester.
Her research centers on applied ethics, feminist philosophy, political philosophy, and moral psychology, with specific focus on ethical issues arising from oppression, dynamics of social change, emotional influences on belief formation, and political virtue. This interdisciplinary work bridges theoretical frameworks with real-world social justice applications.
Dr. Oxley has held significant leadership roles including Director of the Women's and Gender Studies Program (2009-2015) and Co-director of the Jackson Center for Ethics' Summer Ethics Academy (2007-2009). Prior to joining Coastal Carolina University, she served as Managing Editor for the journal Politics, Philosophy and Economics.
