Juliette van Haren is an Assistant Professor in Industrial Design at Eindhoven University of Technology, affiliated with the Eindhoven MedTech Innovation Center and the Interactive Matters research group. Her work focuses on advancing human and planetary health through design, particularly in life support technologies, circular healthcare systems, and (bio)fabrication. She holds an M.Sc. in Neurosciences from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and an MFA in Industrial Design from Parsons School of Design, with a PhD in Industrial Design from TU/e.
Her research employs methods like research-through-design, value-sensitive design, and physical-digital simulation. Key projects include developing artificial placenta technology and extra-uterine life support systems, addressing prematurity care and ethical considerations in healthcare innovation. She has received awards including the PhD Grant Dr. Catharine van Tussenbroek Fonds (2023) and a Best Presentation Award (2023).
