Dr. Juliette Kristensen is a Senior Lecturer in Design Research at the University of Greenwich, serving as Academic Portfolio Lead for Design in the School of Design and Creative Industries. She previously held roles at Goldsmiths, University of London (BA Design Programme Lead) and the Royal College of Art (Senior Tutor for Critical & Historical Studies). Her work bridges academia and industry, focusing on design research, cultural analysis, and trends consulting for clients like Pfizer, GSK, and Transport for London.
Her research explores critical materialities, design history, and technology’s intersection with culture. Notable projects include The Coral Notes (neon re-enchantment with coral’s biomedical significance) and Slime Diaries (cultural and material explorations of slime). She won a D&AD Wooden Pencil for naming the London Overground lines. Her academic contributions span design education, qualitative research methods, and curating events like the Political Ecologies lecture series.
Education includes a PhD from Kingston University on typewriter history, and teaching roles at multiple UK art and design institutions. She actively contributes to public discourse through radio programs like Paperweight Radio, conferences, and exhibitions.
