Julien Wulfgar is a part-time Lecturer in the Religious Studies Department at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), within the College of Arts and Sciences. She joined UNO in summer 2005 and received the 2008 Excellence in Teaching (part-time) Award from the College of Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on intersections of Eastern religions and film, particularly East Asian religious traditions (Buddhism, Shinto, Daoism, Confucianism) and their representation in cinema. She has published articles in the Journal of Religion and Film, contributed entries to the Encyclopedia of Religion and Film, and authored the book Discovering World Religions at 24 Frames Per Second (2008). Current projects include a book on remaking Asian films and a documentary on Shinto.

- Master's in Religious Studies (University of Kansas at Lawrence)
Her research interests include popular and folk religion in East Asian film, ascetic traditions, and representations of good/evil in religious iconography. She has presented at conferences such as the Popular Culture Association and Hawaii International Conference on Arts and Humanities, discussing filmmakers like Hayao Miyazaki and topics like Hindu iconography in American pop culture. A film enthusiast, she explores J-horror, K-horror, anime, and superhero narratives through a religious studies lens.
