Julien Meunier

Julien Meunier is a researcher specializing in the geography of vines and wine, with secondary expertise in social geography and former work in geography of risks. His primary focus examines territories, landscapes, and societies of Douro and Porto wines; wine as a lever for territorial development and competitiveness in globalization; consumer markets; and epistemology of wine geography.

His research spans Mediterranean regions, Maghreb, Morocco, oases, and cultural landscapes, emphasizing rural heritage, oenotourism, and socioeconomic impacts. Current activities include:

• TransAgri project (2021–present): Analyzing crises and transformations in French agriculture as an associate researcher.
• COSI Research Program (2021–2022): Investigating social innovations during the Covid-19 pandemic, funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR).

Past projects feature:

• INNOVINE & WINE (2016–2019): Studying wine markets and consumers with European Regional Development Fund support.
• TSUNARISQUE (2005–2007): Assessing tsunami risks in Indonesia through multinational collaboration funded by French and Indonesian agencies.
