Professor Julien Berestycki is an Associate Professor of Probability at the University of Oxford's Department of Statistics and Tutorial Fellow at Magdalen College. Educated at ENSAE and Université Paris VI, his research specializes in stochastic processes involving branching structures, including branching random walks, coalescence, fragmentation processes, and applications to population genetics. He previously held positions at Paris VI and was visiting professor at NYU-Abu Dhabi.
His recent work establishes fundamental limits for branching Brownian motion systems and characterizes phase transition behavior in particle systems. He currently supervises graduate students in probability theory and maintains collaborations with international research teams.
