David Geldbach is a third-year DPhil student in Statistics at the University of Oxford and serves as a part-time Stipendiary Lecturer at Lady Margaret Hall. Specializing in probability theory, his research focuses on stochastic models with both continuous and discrete aspects, particularly spatial branching processes with applications in biology and epidemiology. He holds Bachelor's (2019) and Master's (2021) degrees in Mathematics from LMU Munich, with exchange studies at NUS Singapore and ENS Lyon.
Research interests include:
- Theoretical analysis of stochastic processes
- Random trees and Markov chains
- Continuum random trees and scaling limits
- Interacting particle systems and branching processes
- Random walks in random environments
His current doctoral research investigates inhomogeneities in classical spatial branching models. He is supervised by Professors Julien Berestycki and Matthias Winkel in Oxford's Probability research group.
