Julien Ailloud is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Grenoble Alpes, affiliated with the Inter-university Psychology Laboratory: Personality, Cognition, Social Change (LIP-PC2S) and the Laboratory for Research on Learning in Context (LaRAC). His academic work bridges political psychology and health behavior research, with a distinctive focus on gender dynamics in political representation and vaccination decision-making processes.
His research interests span Politics, Gender Identity, Voting Intentions, Health Psychology, Adolescent Reading and Comprehension, Political Leadership, Social Representations, and Vaccine Hesitancy. Ailloud developed the concept of "electoral psychology" through his doctoral work examining how citizens evaluate female political candidates, demonstrating that female politicians face gender-based penalties requiring them to exceed male counterparts to be considered viable leaders. More recently, his research has expanded into public health, particularly investigating barriers to HPV vaccination in French schools and developing interventions to improve vaccine acceptability.
Ailloud's publication record shows a clear evolution from pure political psychology (2014-2022) toward applied health psychology (2022-present), with significant contributions to understanding how social representations influence both political and health-related decision making. His work frequently employs qualitative methodologies including focus groups with diverse populations ranging from political observers to parents and school staff.
His research on HPV vaccination has directly informed public health initiatives in France, including the "StopHPV" campaign in Isère department that successfully doubled vaccination coverage between 2017-2022. Ailloud's findings highlight critical socio-cultural factors affecting vaccine uptake, particularly the role of general practitioners as primary information sources and the need for targeted messaging in priority education networks.
As an active presenter, Ailloud has shared his findings at major conferences including the International Days of Differential Psychology (JIPD), the Congress of the Francophone Association of Health Psychology (AFPSA), and the Congress of the French Society of Psychology (SFP), demonstrating his commitment to interdisciplinary knowledge exchange across political and health psychology domains.
